IngweNet© NPC  ACADEMY  FOR
SUSTAINABLE  HOLISTIC  AGRICULTURE
and  SUSTAINABLE  COMMUNITY  LIVING

THE  SUSTAINABLE  HOLISTIC  LIVING   VISION

Since the founding of it's predecessor, the IngweNet People Empowerment and Sustainable Community Development Trust (established in 1996 by the Executive Director and Founder of IngweNet© NPC), both IngweNet Trust & IngweNet© NPC uphold the following policies and vision for the future:

  1. To train COMMUNITY TRAINERS / MENTORS who will themselves be perpetually mentored by the Academy's Training Team, in the various fields of Sustainable Holistic Agriculture and Sustainable Community Living, starting with the primary foundation for sustainability - Permaculture, Organic, and "Regenerative"  Agriculture, all contributing to Sustainable Food Security;

  2. The emphasis of the initial "formal" training courses at the Academy (where the Community Trainers / Mentors have theory and practical sessions over a 14-day course)  is on ORGANIC-type agricultural modalities that, contrary to popular misconceptions, do NOT have as expensive monetary input costs as current commercial agricultural methods, but are more labour intensive;

  3. This approach also addresses the CARE OF THE EARTH and organisms / micro-organisms that are essential for the proper balance of micro- and maxi-ecosystems that will benefit the sustainability of the planet;

  4. The content of the Courses currently includes:

    • The IngweNet© Sustainable EcoGrowing "Permaculture" systems, including adjacent small-scale livestock models supported by the botanical functions (see the page covering this modality here);

    • A wholly-practical Community course aimed at fast-tracking Sustainable Food Security at grassroots level;

    • No-till agriculture practices;

    • Sustainable agricultural programs;

    • Animal husbandry;

    • Fish Farming; and

    • Symbiotic agricultural practices;

  5. The trained Community Trainers / Mentors will be mentored into their own sustainable entrepreneurial "businesses" that engage with community members desiring to initially feed themselves with the most nutritious, healthy "organic" food, using the fully-practical Community Sustainable Food Security course;

  6. To release the qualified Community Trainers / Mentors to themsleves mentor the Community Food Producers to expand their domestic systems (feeding themselves and their families), and produce SURPLUS food by establishing their own larger permaculture, sustained Eco-growing, and/or organic growing systems (all of which have low input costs), in small-scale, vertical, "food forest", intensive, or expansive / market gardens (most of which include raising selected poultry and animals for meat for better protein);

  7. To establish "Community Collectives" in which the Community Food Producers in their own small entrepreneurial businesses, are helped to sell their surpluses locally within their communities, as their own income-generating opportunity; and

  8. To harness the power of the participating communities into "collectives" in order to establish small-scale industries that add value to food products through processing into downstream high-value commodities, thus creating strong local (community) economies that will ultimately contribute to stronger regional, provincial, and national economies through "agriculture".
